Carnival masks are a creative and fun choice for a team building activity. Here is an idea for a Venice carnival mask decoration workshop.
The course will be introduced by an assistant who will explain the activity with historical notes on typical Venetian masks such as: the Bauta or Bautta used by the Doge of Venice, or the Moretta used as a tool of seduction, among many others, in addition to the ancient techniques used in the past with reference to traditional Venetian masks. Different styles of masks are also presented as inspiration for decorating masks.
Each participant can decorate their own mask. However, encourage collaboration by sharing materials and ideas during this mask decoration process.
Participants will use their imagination to create something unique. By working together, they will learn to share their ideas and materials for the decoration of masks.
The festive atmosphere helps to create a light-hearted and fun atmosphere, perfect for strengthening bonds between colleagues during the activity.
The mask decoration takes place in an artisan workshop that still preserves the tradition with all its materials, masks, work phases and decorations. The course does not use any dangerous materials or tools, and even the paints are non-toxic and easily washable.
mask decoration course, choose your model
The carnival mask courses are structured as follows: you can choose from more than fifty models, depending on whether they are to be used for theatre or for other purposes; you can look at photos of each stage and get corresponding explanations throughout the course; and you can choose from eight different techniques for the decoration of masks.
Using acrylic tempera paints or metallic paints such as gold, silver and copper, attendees can decorate the handmade papier-mâché mask as they wish, adding different types of wax for the final touch and choosing the appropriate coloured ribbon for the mask, which is kept by the student after the decoration.
